SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women’s tennis team fell to Charlotte by a 5-2 score Tuesday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Terriers drop to 3-5 on the year, while the 49ers improve to 9-1 overall.
The afternoon began with doubles play, where the duo of Othilia Lindqvist and Lucy Schermerhorn defeated Dominica Nemec and Natsuro Takayanagi (8-4) at the No. 3 position. Charlotte earned a win at the No. 2 position, but the pairing of Sarah Evans and Guinn Garcia defeated the nation’s 48
th ranked duo of Alexandra Zinn and Andrea Rivera (8-5) at the No. 1 spot to give the Terriers the doubles point.
In singles action, Sarah Evans battled back after dropping the first set to defeat Alexandra Zinn (1-6, 6-1, 6-0) at the No. 1 position, yet the 49ers took the remaining singles matches to claim the overall win.
The Terriers return to action early Sunday afternoon, hosting UAB at 11:00 a.m. at the Reeves Tennis Complex.
