GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford men’s golf team shot a 282 in the third round to finish the Furman Intercollegiate in a tie for third place with a team score of 860 at the par-72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Club over the weekend.
The 860 was the lowest 54-hole score since September 21-22, 2007 at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate.
Clemson took the top spot in the standings with an 838 and Virginia Tech finished second with an 853. Coastal Carolina tied with the Terriers with an 860. Wofford finished above five other SoCon teams, Samford (868), Furman (885), Elon (894) and Western Carolina (904).
The Terriers also finished ahead of teams like Georgia (867), Purdue (877) and Michigan (889).
Mark Joye led the Terriers with a 71-70-69—210 good enough for sixth place, and Chandler Brazeal followed with a 71-73-71--215 in 2oth. Branna Hudson carded a 75-70-73—218. Cory Taylor shot a 71-77-72--220, and Brent Whitehead shot a 75-77-70--222.
Sebastian Soderberg of Coastal Carolina took the top individual spot with a three rounds of 68 for a 204.
Wofford will tee off again on March 25 at the The Hootie at Bullsbay in Charleston, S.C. for its next tournament.
