SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision Wednesday afternoon to Furman at the Reeves Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Terriers drop to 4-10 overall and 0-4 in Southern Conference play.  The Paladins improve to 10-7 on the year and 5-0 in league action.

The afternoon began with doubles play, where the pairing of Sarah Evans and Guinn Garcia defeated Alex Moreno-Kaste and Michele Stanford (8-5) at the No. 1 position, yet Furman took the remaining two matches to seize the doubles point.

In singles play, the Paladins took five of the six matches to seal the overall victory.  At the No. 6 position, Samantha Sullivan defeated Kelsey Kinderknecht (6-2, 6-4) in straight sets to give the Terriers their lone point of the afternoon.

Wofford will next be in action Saturday afternoon as they travel to UNC Greensboro.  The match is scheduled for a noon start time in Greensboro, N.C.
