SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Davidson Wednesday evening at the Reeves Tennis Center.
The Terriers drop to 5-14 overall and 1-8 in SoCon play following the loss. The Wildcats improve to 5-17 on the year and 2-7 in league action.
The match kicked off with doubles play, where the pairing of Othilia Lindqvist and Samantha Sullivan defeated Elise Held and Frizzi Bschorer (8-0) at the No. 3 position, yet Davidson took the remaining two matches to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, the Wildcats earned early victories at the No. 6, No. 5 and No. 2 positions to seal the overall match victory. At the No. 1 position, Sarah Evans defeated Stephani Synn (4-6, 5-4, default), and in what was a marathon match, Audrey Coventry prevailed over Katharine Dicconson (7-6(3), 6-7(5), 10-6) at the No. 3 position.
The Terriers return to action Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season at Western Carolina. The match is set for a 11:00 a.m. start time in Cullowhee, N.C.
