Hudson Finishes Second: Terriers Take Fourth at Men’s Golf SoCon Championship

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Brannan Hudson finished tied for second with a 218, +2, to lead the Terriers to a fourth place finish at the Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship at the par-72, 7,178-yard Ralston Creek Course.
 
Hudson opened the event with an even par 72, then shot a 76, +4, on day two, but responded with a career tying 18-hole low round of 70,-2, to earn his 218, +2, and second place finish.  His 54-hole score of 218 also tied a career low for the freshman.
 
Hudson’s finish was only the fourth top three finish for a Terrier since joining the Southern Conference in 1998 and the highest finish since, now PGA Tour golfer, William McGirt won the championship in 2001.
 
Chattanooga’s Stephan Jaeger claimed the individual title with a 66-72-69—207, -9.
 
As a team, Wofford finished fourth with a 291-306-290—887.  It was the team’s best finish since they finished fourth in 2007.
 
Chattanooga took the top team spot with a 294-286-281—861, while Georgia Southern finished second at 290-301-289—880.  The College of Charleston took third with a final score of 295-306-290—882, and Samford completed the top five with a 293-296-300—889.
 
Cory Taylor and Brent McKenzie finished tied for 15th after rounds of 74-75-73—222 and 77-75-70—22 respectively.  Brent Whitehead carded a 71-81-78—230, while Chandler Brazeal ended the tournament with a 74-80-77—231.
