Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Opens Indoor Season at Tiger Challenge

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford men’s and women’s track and field teams had eight athletes finish in the top-ten at the Tiger Challenge to open the 2013 indoor track and field season.
 
Alex Michaels led the men’s team with a seventh place finish in the mile with a time of 4:37.41.  Stevin Bienfait and Tyrell Jemison finished in seventh and eighth place with times of 24.36 and 24.42 respectively.  Tevin Johnson finished in tenth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.25m, and Andrew McCurry also finished in tenth with a distance of 11.14m. Patrick Cummings finished just outside of the top ten in 11th place in the 800m with a time of 2:02.07.  Ryan Doyle also took 11th in the 3,000m with a time of 9:26.92.
 
Sam Hughes paced the women’s team with a second place finish in the 3,000m with a time of 10:47.36.  Nicole Klasnic took sixth in the mile with a time of 5:22.70, while Alyssa Burket took ninth with a time of 2:24.02 in the 800m.
 
The Terriers return to the track Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. on January 18 for their next meet.
