CLEMSON, S.C. – The Wofford men’s and women’s track and field teams saw four more school records fall at the Tiger Paw Invitational over the weekend. That marks eight total records in four meets this indoor season.
Emily Gothberg broke her own two-year old record in the 200m with a time of 27.66 and finished in 52nd in the open event. Katie Kessler broke the Wofford school record in the 800m with a third place finish and a time of 2:15.39 in the open event. Nicole Klasnic toppled the mile school record with a time of 5:12.54 and in 25th place. She also finished 15th in the open 800m with a time of 2:21.99. Alyssa Burkert finished in 17th in the open 800m with a time of 2:23.04. Sam Hughes finished in ninth in the 3,000m with a new personal best mark of 10:28.90. Hughes has had a top ten finish in all four indoor meets this season in alternating between the 3,000m and 5,000m. Alissa Williams finished in 20th in the 2,00m with a time of 10:55.13. Megan Kaufman set a new personal mark in the 400m with a time of 1:06.33.
On the men’s side, Ryan Doyle broke the three year-old 3,000m record by five seconds with a time of 9:01.80 placing him 29th. Patrick Cummings finished in 27th in the open 800m with a time of 2:01.32. Alex Michaels missed breaking the school record in the mile by nine hundredths of a second with a time of 4:33.65.
Wofford takes a weekend off as they prepare for the Southern Conference Indoor Championship on February 23 in Winston-Salem, N.C. for its next meet.
