Results WIINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wofford men’s and women’s track and field teams placed four athletes on the All-Southern Conference Freshman Team and saw five school records toppled at the SoCon Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet.
The Wofford women’s team finished in 10th place with a eight points, while the men’s team finished in ninth place with three points.
The Terriers relay team of Alyssa Burkert, Emily Gothberg, Katie Kessler and Nicole Klasnic set two school records and earned seven of the team’s eight points with a fourth place finish in the DMR and a seventh place finish in the 4x400m. They ran a time of 12:09.36 in the DMR and a time of 4:00.46 in the 4x400m relay. Klasnic picked up Wofford’s final point with an eighth place finish and a time of 5:06.92 in the mile setting school record. Kessler finished in ninth place in the 800m with a time of 2:15.43. Burkert also finished in tenth place in the 800m with a time of 2:15.54. Shaakira Brown earned All-Southern Conference Freshman Team with an 11.53 finish in the 60m hurdles good enough for 12th place.
On the men’s side, the 4.x400m team of Sam Parrott, Patrick Cummings, Stevin Bienfait and Chase West set the school record with a time of 3:29.77 and picked up a point for the Terriers. Ryan Doyle, West, Cummings and Alex Michaels also scored a point with a time of 10:58.14 in the DMR. Tevin Johnson picked up Wofford’s final point with an eighth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.33m. Chris Armfield earned All-Southern Conference Freshman Team honors in the 200m with a time of 23.00 setting a new school record with a tenth place finish and in the 60m with a time of 7.13 good enough for 12th place. Cummings set a new school record in the 800m with a 12th place finish with a time of 1:57.84. Andrew McCurry set a new personal best in the shot put with a distance of 12.40m.
Wofford will return to the track with its first outdoor meet on March 15 through March 16 at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
