SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford men’s and women’s track and field teams broke five school records at the Terrier Relays on Saturday afternoon at the Spartanburg High School track complex.
On the women’s side, the women’s 4x800m relay team of Niki Klasnic, Katie Kessler, Alissa Williams and Alyssa Burkert won the event and broke the school record with a time of 9:20. In the distance medley relay, the team of Alyssa Burkert, Emily Gothberg, Katie Kessler, and Alissa Williams set a school record with a time of 12:47.15 to finish in first place. Sam Hughes won the 5,000 meters and set a school record with a time of 18:04.97, twenty seconds faster than the previous record. Kathleen Woods set the school record in the discus 35.4 2m good enough for ninth place. Niki Klasnic won the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:48.42, while Alissa Williams followed in second place with a 4:55.06. Katie Kessler, Klasnic, Burkert and Emily Gothberg finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:00.29.
On the men’s side, Tevin Johnson set the school record in the high jump with a height of 2.05m. He finished second in the event. Johnson also finished in second in the long jump with a distance of 6.95m. Chase West took fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 51.61.
The final meet of the season will be the Southern Conference Championships on April 20 and 21 in Statesboro, Georgia.
