CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Wofford men's tennis team earned their first conference road win in a 6-1 rout of Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Terriers win improves their overall record to 12-8 and is their second conference win and first road win in the SoCon.
 
Wofford began the day with a strong effort in doubles. The Terriers took two of three doubles matches to grab a 1-0 lead. First, Trevor Gotkowski and Haris Poric cruised to a 6-1 win at no. 1. Then, the team clinched the point with Jack Thomas and Lucas Cerbelli's 6-4 win at no. 3. Andrew Graham and Patrick Longest battled, but fell, 7-5, at no. 2.
 
The Mocs tied the score at 1-1 with Simon Bustamante's 6-4, 6-4 win at no. 4 to begin singles competition. However, the Terriers responded by winning the five remaining singles matches to earn the victory.
 
Wofford took a 2-1 lead on Parks Schoen's 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win at no. 3. Then, Kyle Barr put the team within one point of clinching the match with a hard fought two set victory over Pablo Llebelli. The Terrier sophomore won 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), battling to win a second set tiebreak to avoid a third set.
 
The Terriers clinched the match on freshman Julian Chousa's 7-5, 6-4 win at no. 4. After Wofford had clinched the match at 4-1, Cerbelli and Poric delivered wins at no. 2 and no. 1 to give the team the 6-1 victory.
 
In winning his match 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2), Cerbelli is tied for the team lead with Barr at 11 singles win in 2017.
 
Up next, the Terriers stay on the road to take on The Citadel this Wednesday, April 5 at 1 p.m.
