Charlotte, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team opened its fall season over the weekend at The Queens City Scramble hosted by Queens University. Wofford was one of five teams in that competed in the tournament while Radford, Longwood, Johnson C. Smith and the host school Queens made up the rest of the field. Wofford had four singles winners amongst the nine singles flights and one doubles winner amongst the four doubles flights. Competing for Wofford on the weekend was
Cassidy Hicks,
Lauren Reid,
Jenna Vroman,
Curran Carver,
Brittney Wilbur and
Annie Mayfield.
Cassidy Hicks represented Wofford in the first flight and won all three of her matches on the weekend while dropping a total of 24 games in three matches, winning the first flight.
Curran Carver was slotted in the fourth flight and won two of her three matches, winning the fourth flight. Brittany Wilbur was placed in the fifth flight and won two of her three matches, winning the fifth flight. Finally
Annie Mayfield was placed in the sixth flight and won all three of her matches to win the sixth flight.
Wofford had one doubles winner amongst the four doubles flights. The pairing of
Curran Carver and
Annie Mayfield went 3-0 on the weekend to win the third flight. The duo only dropped 7 games in their three matches.
Overall Wofford won 20 of 27 matches, 7 of 9 doubles and 13 of 18 singles matches. The Terriers will continue their fall season on October, 13 – 14 at the Charlotte Invite.
