Box Score Rock Hill, S.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team lost 3-0 on the road at Winthrop on Sunday evening at Eagle Field. Winthrop opened the scoring in the 32
nd minute and then added two late goals to secure the win over the Terriers.

The Eagles got the scoring started in the 32
nd minute when Michael Smith linked up with Max Hasenstab who buried the goal from the top of the penalty area. Wofford created a few great scoring chances in the first half, tallying 6 shots in the period but could not convert.

In the 71
st minute the Eagles scored an insurance goal again thanks to the Smith-Hasenstab connection, this time Hasenstab scored from the six yard line to increase the Winthrop lead to 2-0. The scoring concluded in the 84
th minute when Max Hasenstab converted on a penalty kick to secure the win for Winthrop.

Despite the loss, the Terriers totaled 12 shots in the game and three corner kicks.
Austin Tuggle led Wofford with two shots on goal while
Ben Nickol,
Andreas Suri,
Chris Welsh,
Eduardo Velazco and
Sam Ross all recorded one shot on goal.
The Terriers return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 5 when they travel to Boiling Springs, North Carolina to face off against Gardner-Webb at 7 pm.
