Box Score Chattanooga, TN. – The Wofford women's tennis team fell to Chattanooga 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Despite dropping its first conference match, the Terriers battled tough against the Mocs. With the loss, Wofford moves to 8-2 and 0-1 in the SoCon.
 
"Despite not picking up the victory, I am so happy with how hard we fought today," said head coach Krissy Hall. "Chattanooga is a good team but we had some great results today winning #1 doubles as well as two freshman winning their first conference matches. We will learn from today's match and be better prepared for our next opponent."
 
Wofford and Chattanooga battled it out in the doubles matches, but the Mocs won the first two matches to clinch the team points. The Terriers lineup for doubles was as followed: #1 Cassidy Hicks/Jenna Vroman, #2 Lauren Reid/Samantha Russell & #3 Annie Mayfield/ Brittney Wilbur. After the Mocs had clinched the team point, Hicks/Vroman remained tough and defeated their opponent 6-4.
 
Despite trailing after the doubles matches, Wofford continued to fight in the singles matches. Wofford's lineup for the singles matches was as followed: #1 Hicks, #2 Vroman, #3 Reid, #4 Curran Carver, #5 Wilbur & #6 Mayfield. Chattanooga opened the singles matches with three straight victories to clinch the match, but Wilbur and Vroman stayed tough and defeated their opponents 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-7, 10-4 respectively.
 
Wofford will look to bounce back when the team travels to UNC Asheville on Friday, March 9 at 1 PM.
