Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team defeated UNCG 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers and Spartans went back and forth throughout the afternoon but
Samantha Russell clinched the win in the final match of the day behind a 6-4, 7-5 victory. With the win, Wofford improves to 9-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference while UNCG drops to 3-15 and 0-6 in the conference.

"I could not be more proud of how the team responded after losing the doubles point. They rallied around each other and came out with great energy and confidence in singles," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "Samantha handled the pressure so well. From the second game of her first set on, she knew her match would decide it. I could not be more proud of her clutch performance and of our team as a whole for sticking with one another through adversity!"

The Spartans and Terriers battled it out in doubles but UNCG was able to edge Wofford to grab an early lead. Wofford's lineup for doubles was as followed: No. 1

Samantha Russell. The Terriers lone victory came from Reid/Russell who defeated their opponent 6-4.

Despite dropping the team point Wofford answered with a bang, winning four of the six singles matches to claim the team's first conference victory. The Terriers lineup for singles was as followed: No. 1 Hicks, No. 2 Vroman, No. 3 Reid, No. 4 Carver, No. 5 Wilbur and No. 6 Russell. Hicks kicked things off with a 6-1, 6-4 win to even the score at one but UNCG got a victory from the number four position to regain the lead. Trailing 2-1, the Terriers ripped off two straight wins thanks to Vroman and Reid who defeated their opponent 6-1, 6-4 and 6-1, 7-6 respectively. The Spartans remained calm and tied the score at three with a victory from the number four position. With the match hanging in the balance, Russell clinched the match for the Terriers as she defeated her opponent 6-4, 7-5.

Wofford will return to the court on Friday, April 13 when the Terriers host Samford on Senior Day at 2 PM. Seniors
