COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams competed on Saturday at the USC Open held at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track on the campus of the University of South Carolina. The Terriers set three school records at the meet and won two events, along with numerous ten top finishes.

In the running events for the women,
Alexandra Christopoulos won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 12:13.58.
Whitley Elsass was tenth in the 3,000 meters at 11:00.87 and
Jamie Barnett was fifth in the 1,500 meters.
Kassidy Morton took fifth place in the 400 meters and
Amber Lust set a new school record in the 100 meter hurdles at 13.99 to finish fourth overall.
Madison Paraskeva was third overall in the 800 meters at 1:15.65 and
Sommer McKenzie added a fourth place finish in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.55.
McLeod Dean was third in the 200 meters in 23.66 to break her previous school record. Wofford's 4x400 relay teams finished second and third overall. The women's 4x100 relay team was fifth in 47.78.

For the men in the running events, Wofford took the top three spots in the men's 1,500 meters, with
Ben Hensley first (4:01.71),
Jack Zemp second (4:02.46) and
Cisco Ferre third (4:03.04).
Walker Gibbs won the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:50.16. In the 800 meters,
Joe Harbacevich was third in 1:54.19.
Isaiah Ellis lowered his school record in the 400 hurdles to 54.39. The men's 4x400 relay team was tenth overall.

In the field events,
Sara Jane Hayes was fifth in the long jump at 5.26 meters.
Alexandra Burgess was second in the women's triple jump at 11.66 meters, while
Omar Mingo was seventh in the men's triple jump at 13.89 meters.
Austin Lufkin took third place in the men's discus with a throw of 46.50 meters.

The meet included teams from The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, USC Upstate, South Carolina State and Furman among others. Â

In addition, at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday night
Anya Bunao ran the 5,000 meters in 18:05.35 to finish 25
th overall.
Hannah Steelman ran the 5,000 meters at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville on Saturday night and set a new school record with a time of 16:16.71. She was eighth overall in the highly competitive field and her time qualifies her for the NCAA Regional.

Next weekend the Terriers will compete at ETSU on April 28. The outdoor season will conclude for the Terriers on May 10-11 at the Southern Conference Championships hosted by Western Carolina.
