NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Wofford men's tennis alum
Rob Galloway '15 competed in the Newport Beach Oracle Challenger Series this past weekend, taking home the ATP doubles title, alongside partner Nathaniel Lammons, for his fifth overall ATP Challenger doubles title. The win propels the former Terrier up in the ATP Doubles rankings, moving to a career-high No. 93 world ranking, while Lammons also moved up to No. 114.

"So many of us are so proud of Rob, for not only his success, but also for his journey into the top 100," asserted head men's tennis coach
Rod Ray. "This is such a wonderful story about perseverance and belief."
Rob Galloway and partner Nathaniel Lammons were the lone American duo to remain in the Newport Beach doubles draw, as they came out victorious 7-5, 7-6 (1) over Bulgaria's Romain Arneodo (No. 84) and Andrei Vasilevski (No. 138). The match had marked the first Oracle Challenger Series event finals appearance for both Galloway and Lammons, with Galloway reaching the semifinals in Houston and quarters in Chicago, while Lammons had reached the semifinals in Chicago. The win is their first ATP Challenger Tour title as a team.

The duo defeated Nathan Pasha and Ruben Gonzales in the first round, 6-4, 6-2, followed by a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) thriller in the quarterfinals against Gonzalo Escobar and Roberto Maytin. The tandem then went on to overcome fellow all-American team of Evan King and Hunter Reese in a tiebreak (7-6 (4), 4-6, 10-7) to reach their appearance in the finals.

Next, Galloway will compete in the Cleveland Open, an ATP Challenger Tour event presented by Cleveland Clinic, in Ohio this week in pursuit of another ATP Challenger Tour title.
