LEXINGTON, Va. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the VMI Winter Relays at the VMI Corps Physical Training Facility. The Terriers had numerous top-ten performances and five school records were set during the meet.
In the field events on Friday,
Longinus Nnodim was third in the weight throw at 16.62 meters.
Omar Mingo took seventh in the triple jump at 13.17 meters.
Alexandra Burgess was eleventh in the triple jump at 10.87 meters.
The men's 4x800 relay was first in 8:06.23. The women's team of
Madison Paraskeva,
Sommer McKenzie,
Mia Girardi and
Jamie Barnett was second in the 4x800 relay at 9:28.98 to set a new school record.
Elijah Bull was ninth in the 400 meters in a school-record time of 49.75.
Kassidy Morton was eighth in the women's 400 meters at 58.56.
On Saturday,
Madison Paraskeva was fourth in the women's mile at 5:04.11 and
Jamie Barnett was tenth at 5:13.99. In the finals of the 60-meter hurdles,
Destiny Shippy was sixth at 9.08 in the women's race and
Isaiah Ellis was seventh for the men at 8.46. In the finals of the 60-meters,
McLeod Dean finished first overall with a school-record time of 7.65.
Jaylen Muhammad was fourth in the finals of the men's 60-meters at 6.98 and he set a school record in the distance at 6.90 in the Saturday semifinals.
Cody Chavis was 11
th in the 500 meters with a time of 1:08.64, while
Parke Faison was eighth in the event for the women at 1:25.16.
Jack Zemp added a 9
th place finish in the 800 meters for the men and
Sommer McKenzie was 11
th for the women.
Jaylen Muhammad added a school record in the 200 meters at 22.00 and finished fourth overall.
Conrad Heinrich was third overall in the long jump at 6.15 meters.
Longinus Nnodim was eighth in the shot put at 14.13 meters.
T.J. Maxey and Robert Stout tied for sixth in the pole vault, clearing 3.90 meters. In the 4x400 relay, the men were fourth in 3:28.47 and the women were sixth in 3:54.93.
Over 25 teams competed in the meet, including William & Mary, George Mason, James Madison, Richmond, Radford, Coastal Carolina and Duquesne.
Next up for the Terriers will be the Southern Conference Championship on February 23 and 24 in Lexington, Virginia.
