CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams began the 2019 season at the Charlotte 49er Classic at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on Friday and Saturday. One school record was set at the meet and numerous Terriers had top 20 finishes.

On Friday in the track events,
Shakaiya Bradford was tenth in the 100-meter hurdles.
Isaiah Ellis took fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.76 and he was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at 53.75.
Jonathan Hall 17
th in the 110-meter hurdles. In the men's 100 meters,
Jaylen Muhammad was ninth in 10.73, just .01 off a school record.
Kassidy Morton was 22
nd in the 400 meters and
Madison Paraskeva took ninth in the 1,500 meters.
Jack Zemp was 24
th in the 1,500 meters. In the 10,000 meters,
Shannon McAndrew was fourth overall and set a new school record with a time of 38:49.39.
Ben Boatwright and
Beck Classey were 21
st and 22
nd respectively in the men's 10,000 meters.

Saturday began with the women's 4x100 relay in which the Terriers were fifth overall. The men took ninth in the 4x100 relay.
Madison Paraskeva ran the 800 meters in 2:15.17 to take fourth place. In the men's 800 meters,
Joe Harbacevich was 19
th and
Jack Zemp was 20
th.
Jaylen Muhammad was 14
th in the 200 meters.
Mary Stewart Wilson finished 24
th in the women's 3,000 meters. In the 4x800 relay, the Wofford women were second. The women added a10th place finish in the 4x400 relay and the men were 17
th in the distance.

In the field events on Friday,
Omar Mingo was 21
st in the long jump and
Conrad Heinrich was eighth in the javelin.
Longinus Nnodim took 27
th in the hammer throw. On Saturday,
Megan Dunn was 11
th in the javelin,
Alexandra Burgess was 19
th in the triple jump, and
Shakaiya Bradford was 9
th in the high jump. In the pole vault,
T.J. Maxey and
William Stout were seventh and eighth, respectively.
Austin Lufkin took seventh place in the discus.

Over 50 teams competed in the meet, including Appalachian State, Charlotte, Davidson, East Tennessee State, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Liberty, UNCG, USC Upstate, Wake Forest and Western Carolina, and USC Upstate.

Next up for the Terriers will be at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational, with primarily the decathlon and heptathlon being competed. The Terrier Relays return on March 29 and 30 at Spartanburg High School. Â
