Baseball Travels To The Citadel

THIS WEEKEND
The Terriers travel to Charleston for a three-game series against The Citadel ... Wofford has begun the season 26-20 after a 7-3 loss to Winthrop on Wednesday night ... The Terriers are 8-6 in the Southern Conference after series wins over Mercer,  Western Carolina and VMI, along with a split with ETSU and a series loss to Samford ... The Citadel is 10-33 overall after a 9-0 loss to Georgia on Tuesday night ... They are 3-12 in the SoCon with a series win over VMI, series loss to Mercer and sweeps by Furman, UNCG and Samford ... In a series that began in 1899, the Terriers have a 57-52 lead in the series, including winning 13 of the last 16 games ... In 2018, Wofford swept the Bulldogs in Spartanburg ... Wofford starters will be LHP David Yourke (1-3, 3.03 ERA), LHP Hayes Heinecke (8-0, 2.70 ERA) and LHP Austin Higginbotham (8-3, 4.29 ERA) ... The Citadel starters will be RHP Jordan Merritt (3-5, 3.84 ERA), LHP Shane Connolly (3-5, 4.68 ERA) and TBD on Sunday.

• The 36 wins in 2018 were the second-most in school history (39 in 2015). Wofford has won 20 or more games in nine straight seasons.

• In the national rankings, Wofford is second in stolen bases (126) and third in stolen bases per game (2.74).
• Wofford has stolen 100 or more bases in seven straight seasons, dating back to 2013, the longest active streak in Division I.
• OF Colin Davis was named to the Preseason All-Southern Conference first team. Pitchers Austin Higginbotham and Anthony Garcia, along with DH Lawson Hill, were named Preseason All-Southern Conference second team.

Leading the team are six seniors: Anthony Garcia, Austin Higginbotham, Davis Keller, Reed Massey, Ty Reginelli and Thomas Tatham ... Among the pitchers, Austin Higginbotham is 8-3 overall with a 4.29 ERA ... Hayes Heinecke is 8-0 with a 2.70 ERA, while Reece Maniscalco is the team leader in saves with four ... Lawson Hill leads the team and is fourth in the SoCon with a .360 batting average ... Mike Brown is seventh in the SoCon on base percentage at .447 and leads the conference with 32 steals ...
