SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2019 season on Friday night at the Converse Kick-Off at the Roger Milliken Research Center Park. The women were second and the men finished fourth overall.

In the women's 5K race,
Sommer McKenzie was second overall in 19:53.57 and Annie Mayfield was third in 19:55.87.
Madison Paraskeva was ninth in 20:30.27.
Whitley Elsass and
Anastasia Burroughs also ran for the Terriers.

The men's 5K competition followed and freshman
Collin Bertram was 16
th overall in 17:19.65, with
Palmer Haigler 19
th in 17:29.24.
Demir Degirmenci,
Ryan O'Malley,
Nick Butler,
Theron Bradford and
Carter Cress rounded out the Terrier squad.

A total of nine teams ran in the women's race and eight competed in the men's event.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Friday, September 13 at the Eye Opener held at Milliken Park.
