SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Saturday morning, the Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Upstate Invitational at Milliken Park. The women were 15
th and the men were also 15
th overall in the meet.
In the women's 5K race,
Ava Dennis was 62
nd overall in a personal-best time of 19:07.04 to lead the Terriers. She was followed by
Becca Hinds (19:33.6),
Jordyn Battle (19:35.7 -personal best),
Sarah Turner (20:31.3),
Caroline Vietor (21:23.3),
Camille Terracina (22:18.5), and
Emma O'Connell (22:26.0).
The men's 8K competition followed and
Liam Jones was the top Terrier at 26:55.3.
Ben Beucler was next for Wofford at 27:18.2, followed by
Andrew York (27:31.2), Nathan Hopkins (28:09.3),
Kai Wilmot (28:58.6),
Will Berger (29:44.6),
Aiden Sellers (30:27.9) and
Aydan Layton (31:02.9).
Overall, Jacksonville State was first in the women's race of 23 teams with 35 points, followed by the College of Charleston and UNC Asheville. The men's race of 22 teams was also won by Jacksonville State with 26 points, with Western Carolina and Davidson following.
Both the men's and women's teams will run in the Southern Conference Championship on Saturday, November 1, in Mill Spring, N.C.
