SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's cross country teams began the 2025 season on Friday afternoon in the Eye Opener meet at the Roger Milliken Research Center Park. The women were ninth and the men were tenth overall in the meet.
In the women's 5K race, newcomer
Madeline Smith was 30
th overall in 19:19.2 to lead the Terriers.
Becca Hinds was the next Terrier to finish at 20:37.2, followed by
Taylor Battle (21:03.5),
Jordyn Battle (21:19.5),
Sarah Turner (21:34.1),
Camille Terracina (22:22.8), and
Sofia Thornton (23:23.6).
The men's 8K competition followed and
Andrew York was the top Terrier finisher with a personal record time of 27:05.7 for 61
st place.
Will Berger was next for Wofford in 28:57.7, followed by
John Bolinger (29:36.1),
Nate Hopkins (29:40.2),
Aydan Layton (29:43.2),
Kai Wilmot (30:03.7), and
Dillon Shin (30:44.0).
Overall, Clemson was first in the women's race of 12 teams with 27 points, followed by Furman, NYU, Hope and Georgia Southern. The men's race of 13 teams was won by Furman with 15 points, with Clemson, Hope, NYU and East Tennessee State rounding out the top five.
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Friday, September 12, at the Queens City Invite in Charlotte.
