Baseball Opens Fall Practice

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College baseball team began fall practice in preparation for the 2021 season on Wednesday, October 7, with an intrasquad scrimmage. The fall will consist of 28 days of practice in October and November.

This will be the 14th season under the direction of head coach Todd Interdonato.
Last season, Wofford was 14-3 overall with a win at #14 Auburn before the remainder of the schedule was canceled due to COVID-19.

In 2021, the team looks to pick up where they left off as a total of 26 players return, including 2019 SoCon Freshman of the Year Hayes Heinecke and All-SoCon players Colin Davis and John Dempsey.

"It is always good to see how much players develop between two seasons," said assistant coach J.J. Edwards. "The returners have picked up right where they left off and the first-year guys have been picking up our system well. We are excited to see them continue to grow and progress over the next two months."

The annual Black and Gold World Series will be held on November 16-20 at Russell C. King Field and will be a best-of-five series.

"The fall is always exciting as you get an opportunity to watch a new team play for the first time," said pitching coach Seth Cutler-Voltz. "We are very healthy right now which makes everything we do extremely competitive. I'm excited to help these guys develop their identity as a team over the next few weeks."

The 2021 season is slated to begin on February 19, with the Southern Conference Championship May 25-30.
