SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford's men's soccer team and head coach
Joel Tyson have announced their signings for the class of 2021. There are nine incoming freshmen in the fall, composed of one goalkeeper, one defender, five midfielders, and two forwards.
"There are a lot of ways to describe the unconventional nature of this recruiting cycle. Most importantly, we are just proud and excited about the way this incoming group came together", said Tyson. "The way that each one of these players, and their families, managed this process through this COVID pandemic is commendable. Each of these players offers something unique in terms of their skillset, work rate, and potential. We are eager to have them join our current group, and to begin preparations for the 2021 fall season."
Nic Parker – A four-year midfielder for Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, S.C, Parker helped his squad to an NPL South Atlantic Championship from 2017-2019. He also won the Southeastern DA Championship this past year. Competing in various tournaments and playoffs the past three years, Parker most recently played for the Charlotte Independence, a member of the USL, the second-tier league in the US. He scored six goals and 13 assists in all competitions.
Kameron Gorst – A 6'1 midfielder from Atlanta, Georgia, Gorst plays for Johns Creek High School and was a member of the Concorde Fire in the ECNL, and part of Atlanta United's Development Academy in 2017. He won the Southeast ECNL Championship in 2018 and was USSDA National Runner-Up in 2019 while recording over 10 assists.
Josh Burgess – Burgess is a 6'4 goalkeeper from Winston Salem, N.C. He has played for the North Carolina Fusion in the ECNL, under the USSDA. In 2019-20, he played and started in six games, posting a .750 save percentage.
Diego Reyes – Born in Venezuela and now residing in Boca Raton, Florida, Reyes has sparked his team to district playoffs in all four years of high school. He earned All-County First Team twice and Second Team once. He has scored 25 goals and 35 assists from midfield and currently has a 7-1-1 record in his senior season.
Judd Wagner – Wagner comes by way of Champaign, Illinois. The 6'4 defender was a man amongst boys in high school, starting all four years at the varsity level, and powering his team to back-to-back Regional Titles in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he also was honored to the All-Area second team after producing 14 goals and 17 assists.
Jackson Wrobel – Wrobel comes to Wofford from Athens, Alabama, where he has played five seasons in the ECNL. He started out with Atlanta United's DA and finished 2
nd in the division in 2017-18. Then he spent a season with the Concorde Fire, before playing his last two years with Alabama FC. The midfielder has helped his team to 1
st in the division this year.
Drew Lovelace – The fifth and final midfielder comes from Holly Springs, N.C. Lovelace holds the all-time points and goals record with 65 and 27, respectively. He earned 1
st team All-Region and All-State honors after leading his team to two straight conference championships. Transitioning to forward in 2018, Lovelace helped his team to a 35-10-2 record between 2018-2020.
Oliver Sheikhli – A 6'0 forward from Virginia, now going to school in Raleigh, N.C., Sheikhli is a four-year letter winner. He holds the record for most goals scored in one season with 26 and has been awarded numerous accolades including a Conference Player of the Year. A career record of 48-19-3, he won two conference titles in the past three years.
Carsten Haddad – A 6'1 attacker from Germantown, Tennessee, Haddad is a two-sport athlete in soccer and football. He was the first 8
th grader to start on varsity in school history and was the first sophomore captain in school history. Being voted to All-Tournament team in 2017 and All-Region team in 2018 and 2019, Haddad has scored over 35 goals and 25 assists throughout his career.
