SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Wofford men's soccer team reported to campus on Sunday, August 2, to begin preparations for the upcoming 2026 season. The first practice of the year was held on Tuesday morning.
Head Coach Ryan Osborne enters his second season as head coach of the Terriers, whose roster features 33 players. The group includes 19 returning players and 14 newcomers.
The Terriers finished last season with a record of 6-11-2 and a 1-4 mark in conference matchups.
Overall, seven starters return from the 2025 season. Pepe Hinterschuster started all 19 games in goal for the Terriers, making 51 saves with a 54.3% save percentage, and earning two shutouts and one Defensive Player of the Week award.
Sophomore Samuel Byron started 16 games and was fourth on the team in points with 3 goals and 3 assists. He was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team. Junior Max Talley was fifth on the team in points with 2 goals and 3 assists. Starters Niklas Hegle, Adam Celik, Nick Dyer, and Mikey Hernandez are also set to return.
The team has three exhibition matches scheduled, beginning on Friday, August 7, when the Terriers will host the College of Charleston. The team will host High Point University on Wednesday, August 12, and will visit the University of South Carolina on Saturday, August 15. The regular season will kick off with an away game at Gardner-Webb University on Thursday, August 20th.
