MONTREAT, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams spent Friday and Saturday at the Montreat College Invitational. The teams primarily competed in the field and multi events during the meet, with the Terriers winning the decathlon and heptathlon.
On Friday in the javelin,
Paul Szuba was fifth for the men at 47.66 meters and
Megan Dunn was third for the women at 37.41 meters. Dunn added a tenth place in the long jump at 5.34 meters.
Jenna Reid was fourth in the hammer throw at 46.11 meters.
In the decathlon,
Tanner Henry was first in the long jump, javelin, and high jump.
Sebastian LaTorre was first in the discus, while
T.J. Maxey was first in the pole vault in a school-record height of 4.25 meters and first in the 1,500 meters. Overall,
Tanner Henry was first with 6,199 points,
Sebastian LaTorre was third and
T.J. Maxey was fourth.
The women competed in the first four events of the heptathlon on Friday and final three events on Saturday.
Netanya Linares was first in the 100-meter hurdles and 200 meters, second in the high jump, and third in the long jump. She scored a total of 4,555 to win the event.
In other field events on Saturday, Alexis Rhine was 12
th in the pole vault, while
Paul Szuba and
Deylon Harkey threw the discus.
Division I teams competing at the meet included UNC Asheville and Western Carolina, along with over two dozen other schools.
The team will be back in action at the Vertklasse Meeting hosted by High Point from April 1-3.
