Baseball Travels to Jacksonville For Weekend Series

THIS WEEKEND
The Terriers will travel to Jacksonville University for a three-game series beginning Friday night ... Wofford has opened the season 7-2 overall after a series win over Xavier last weekend and a 10-9 win in eleven innings at UNC Asheville on Tuesday ... The 7-2 start matches the start from the 2020 season ... Last season Wofford was 14-3 after a 4-3 win over #14 Auburn before the season was halted ... The Terriers were picked third by the coaches and media in the SoCon Preseason Polls  ... Jacksonville was picked to finish fifth in the ASUN Conference and are 0-7 on the season after a game against The Citadel on Wednesday ... The Dolphins return ten position players and eight pitchers from last season when the team was 9-9 overall ... Wofford and Jacksonville are meeting for the first time ... Wofford starters will be LHP Hayes Heinecke (1-1, 5.56 ERA) on Friday, RHP Josh Vitus (0-0, 5.91 ERA) on Saturday and RHP Elliot Carney (1-1, 4.00 ERA) will wrap up the series on Sunday ... The Dolphin starters will be RHP Tyler Santana (0-2, 5.40 ERA) on Friday night, RHP Mike Cassala (0-1, 4.82 ERA) for game two and  RHP Mason Adams (0-0, 4.00 ERA) to close the series.

• The 36 wins in 2019 were the second-most in school history (39 in 2015). Wofford has won 20 or more games in nine straight seasons and have reached 30 or more wins in five of the last six seasons.

• Wofford has stolen 100 or more bases in seven straight seasons, dating back to 2013, the longest active streak in Division I.
• Among SoCon schools, the Terriers were first in on base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBIs, walks, and wins.
• Wofford was picked to finish third in the 2021 Preseason Poll by the coaches and media. Five Terriers earned Preseason All-SoCon  honors, including Preseason Pitcher of the Year Hayes Heinecke.

ABOUT WOFFORD
In the 2021 season, the team returns four starters in the field along with 13 pitchers ... Overall 26 players returned to the team with 17 newcomers ... This marks the 14th season under the direction of head coach Todd Interdonato ... Leading the team are eight seniors: Elliot Carney, Colin Davis, Jake Dippold, Lawson Hill, Clay Schwaner, Josh Vitus, David Yourke and Jake Zoller ... Among the pitchers, Hayes Heinecke was 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA and he was named the SoCon Preseason Pitcher of the Year ... Dalton Rhadans was 4-0 with a 2.35 ERA as a reliver and was tied for first in the SoCon in wins ... Josh Vitus was 1-1 and posted a 2.18 ERA in five starts ... Lawson Hill led the team with a .467 batting average that was second in the SoCon ... Colin Davis was fifth in the league in hits with 23 and had a .348 batting average ... John Dempsey hit .314 with three home runs.
