The Terriers begin a three-game home series against UNCG on Friday night ... Wofford has opened the season 18-13 overall after winning two of the three games at East Tennessee State last weekend and a loss to USC Upstate on Tuesday night ... Last season Wofford was 14-3 after a 4-3 win over #14 Auburn before the season was halted ... The Terriers were picked third by the coaches and media in the SoCon Preseason Polls ... The Spartans have opened the season 15-16 overall and 3-9 in the Southern Conference after a series loss at Mercer and a 9-0 win at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night ... UNCG was picked to finish third in the Southern Conference after an 11-5 mark in 2020 ... The Spartans hold a 49-23 lead in the series over Wofford that began in 1997 ... In 2019 the Terriers won two of the three games played in Greensboro ... The weekend series starters for the Terriers are LHP Sam Stratton (2-2, 4.02 ERA) and RHP Elliot Carney (3-2, 3.95 ERA) on Saturday, with Friday to be determined. UNCG will go with RHP Austin Koehn (2-2, 4.46 ERA) on Friday, with both Saturday starters to be determined.

In the 2021 season, the team returns four starters in the field along with 13 pitchers ... Overall 26 players returned to the team with 17 newcomers ... This marks the 14th season under the direction of head coach Todd Interdonato ... Leading the team are eight seniors: Elliot Carney, Colin Davis, Jake Dippold, Lawson Hill, Clay Schwaner, Josh Vitus, David Yourke and Jake Zoller ... Among the pitchers, Hayes Heinecke is 2-4 with a 4.40 ERA and he was named the SoCon Preseason Pitcher of the Year ... Dalton Rhadans is 4-0 with a 1.64 ERA and three saves as a reliever ... Elliot Carney is 3-2 with a 3.95 ERA and a team-high 58 strikeouts ... Colin Davis leads the team with a .364 batting average, along with team-bests in hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs ... IN THE NCAA RANKINGS
Wofford is currently in top 25 nationally in walks (22th), stolen bases (6th), sacrifice bunts (10th), and stolen bases per game (9th) ... Individually Colin Davis is ranked in total bases (31st) and doubles (7th), Zeb Roos is 46th in hit by pitch, Elliot Carney is 40th in strikeouts and Jack Renwick is 16th in stolen bases.

LAST TIME AGAINST UNCG
The Terriers won two of the three games played in Greensboro in 2019. On Thursday the Spartans won 1-0, holding the Terriers to one hit in the game. Wofford had ten runs in the third inning on Friday on the way to an 18-10 victory. In the final game of the regular season, Wofford scored five runs in the first inning and added four in the ninth for a 14-5 win. UNCG leads the all-time series that began in 1997 by a 49-23 margin.
