The Terriers begin a three-game road series at VMI on Friday with a doubleheader ... Wofford has opened the season 22-13 overall after a series sweep of UNCG last weekend and a 12-5 win over College of Charleston on Wednesday night ... Last season Wofford was 14-3 after a 4-3 win over #14 Auburn before the season was halted ... The Terriers were picked third by the coaches and media in the SoCon Preseason Polls ...  VMI is 9-21 overall and 5-10 in the Southern Conference after a three-game sweep of Mercer last weekend and a 7-5 loss at Virginia Tech on Tuesday night ... The Keydets were picked to finish eighth in the SoCon as they were 4-13 during the 2020 campaign ... In 2019 the Terriers won two of the three games played in Spartanburg, along with a win in the SoCon Tournament ... Leading the team are eight seniors: Elliot Carney, Colin Davis, Jake Dippold, Lawson Hill, Clay Schwaner, Josh Vitus, David Yourke and Jake Zoller ... Among the pitchers, Hayes Heinecke is 2-4 with a 4.40 ERA and he was named the SoCon Preseason Pitcher of the Year ... Dalton Rhadans is 4-0 with a 2.50 ERA and three saves as a reliever ... LAST TIME AGAINST VMI
Wofford won two of the three games in the series played in Spartanburg in 2019 and added a win in the SoCon Tournament. On Friday night, Wofford had eight runs in the first inning on the way to a 19-4 win. In a Saturday doubleheader, Wofford won the first game 15-4 with the Keydets taking the second game 5-4. In the opening game of the SoCon Tournament, the Terriers won 12-7. Wofford leads the all-time series that began in 1997 by an 19-15 margin.
