SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College track and field team has taken part in several last chance meets over the past two weeks to improve their times prior to selections for the NCAA East Preliminaries.
At the Winthrop Twilight meet on May 5,
Destiny Shippy won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.94.
The men's 4x400 relay team of
Sam Larkin,
Jaylen Muhammad,
Elijah Bull and
Conor Murphy set a new school record of 3:14.45 at the Montreat Last Chance meet on May 7.
Jenna Reid was first in the javelin at 41.63 meters and third in the hammer with a throw of 49.85 meters.
On May 14 and 15 at the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi meet,
Tanner Henry took first place in the high jump at 2.04 meters.
Destiny Shippy was second in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.72. In the 110-meter hurdles,
Isaiah Ellis was fourth in 14.17. In the men's 400-meter hurdles,
Isaiah Ellis was fourth in 53.04 and
Elijah Bull was fifth in 53.46. In the decathlon,
Sebastian LaTorre was seventh with 5,996 points and
T.J. Maxey was eighth with 5,621 points as both set new personal bests.
The NCAA selections will be announced on Thursday, May 20. The NCAA East Preliminaries will be held from Wednesday, May 26 to Saturday, May 29 in Jacksonville, Florida.
