Ellis, Henry and Johnson Qualify For NCAA East Regionals

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships preliminary competitions.
 
For the second time in school history, Wofford College has three individuals qualify as Kerrington Johnson will run the 100-meter hurdles, Tanner Henry will compete in the high jump and Isaiah Ellis qualified in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles.
 
Ellis, a senior from Chesnee, South Carolina, qualified 46th of the 48 participants in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.05 and he was 43rd in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.12. He holds the school record in both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles and earned All-Southern Conference honors this season in both events. He also competed at the 2019 NCAA Championships in the 400-meter hurdles and is the first men's track athlete at Wofford to qualify in two events.
 
Henry, a sophomore from Kingsport, Tennessee, qualified 36th in the high jump of the 48 participants with a height of 2.10 meters. He holds the school record in the event. Henry is the first Wofford student-athlete to qualify for the NCAAs in a field event.
 
Johnson, a sophomore from Anderson, S.C., qualified 28th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.27. At the 2021 Southern Conference Championship she won both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles and holds the school record in both events.

FRIDAY, May 28

The preliminary competitions are scheduled for May 26-29. The University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida will host the East Preliminary and Texas A&M University, in College Station, Texas will host the West Preliminary. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
