Baseball Announces Staff Promotions

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford baseball head coach Todd Interdonato has announced a pair of staff promotions. J.J. Edwards has been elevated to associate head coach and Seth Cutler-Voltz has been named recruiting coordinator in addition to his duties as pitching coach.

J.J. Edwards joined the coaching staff in the fall of 2011 as the volunteer assistant and was promoted to assistant coach in the summer of 2012. He took on recruiting coordinator responsibilities in 2016. Now in his eleventh season on the staff, he will continue to work with the hitters and infielders as associate head coach.

During the 2021 season, Wofford had a .291 batting average that ranked second in the league, while four players had averages over .300. Among the NCAA leaders, Wofford was second in stolen bases, 20th in doubles and 14th in on base percentage.

"Since we first hired J.J. ten years ago our program has continued to ascend alongside his career," said Interdonato. "He has moved up our staff with hard work and a dedication to Wofford College but more importantly to our student-athletes. Since he has been named recruiting coordinator our program has reached new levels of success and we are excited to honor his achievements by naming him our associate head coach."

Seth Cutler-Voltz is in his sixth season as the pitching coach for the Wofford baseball team. In the first seven years of his coaching career he has had seven pitchers reach the professional ranks, highlighted by Adam Scott, a 4th round pick of the Cleveland Indians, Hayes Heinecke (13rd round by the St. Louis Cardinals) and Daniel Concepcion (12th round by the Kansas City Royals).

Last season the Terriers had a 5.01 ERA that was third in the Southern Conference and the .259 opposing batting average ranked first. The team combined for 492 strikeouts, which was second in the league and tied for the third-most in school history.

"Seth has been one of the best pitching coaches in the Southeast since he has been at Wofford," said Interdonato. "We have had our most consistent success on the mound during his tenure along with continuing our run of draft picks as well. He has been a great evaluator of prospective student-athletes and has raised the level of talent we have been able to recruit to Wofford in the last five years. Being able to turn over the title of recruiting coordinator to him puts our program in a position to continue and raise our level of success."

The 2021 season saw Wofford win the first regular season Southern Conference Championship in school history. The team was 36-21 overall and 21-9 in league play, which were the most conference wins in school history. Outfielder Colin Davis was named SoCon Player of the Year, Elliot Carney was named SoCon Pitcher of the Year and Todd Interdonato was named SoCon Coach of the Year. They were joined by Dalton Rhadans, Jack Renwick, Lawson Hill and Nolen Hester receiving All-SoCon honors. Renwick and Trey Yunger were named to the All-Freshman Team.
