SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chicago White Sox have revealed their delegation of prospects who will play in the 2025 Arizona Fall League (AFL) with Wofford alumnus Ryan Galanie among the minor league prospects to earn the honor. Galanie is one of the eight White Sox prospects selected, all of whom will play for the Glendale Desert Dogs in the six-team league.
Galanie, a 2023 graduate of Wofford College, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 13
th round of the 2023 MLB Draft. He is currently in Double A with the Birmingham Barons. This is Galanie's second full season in Minor League Baseball and third overall. He began the 2025 campaign with the High-A Winston-Salem Dash and earned a promotion to Double A on April 29.
Between his stints with both the Dash and Barons, Galanie is hitting .284 with a .776 OPS for the 2025 minor league season. He has a combined 11 home runs with 116 total hits, 90 RBI, and 13 stolen bases. In 85 games since his call-up to Birmingham, the slugger boasts a .274 average with .734 OPS. He has 87 total hits with 17 doubles, seven long balls, 67 RBI, and 11 swipes.
As a Terrier, Galanie hit .339 with 173 hits over 151 games. He recorded 34 home runs with 134 RBI and 151 runs scored. Galanie was tabbed the 2023 Southern Conference Player of the Year. A two-time All-SoCon First Team honoree, he also took home CSC Academic All-America recognition twice while being named a semifinalist for the 2023 Dick Howser Trophy.
The corner infielder is just the fourth former Terrier to ever be selected to an AFL roster and the first since Luke Leftwich in 2018, who played for Scottsdale as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies organization. The other Terriers in the AFL were John Cornely (Scottsdale, 2013) and Brandon Waring (Phoenix, 2009).
The AFL is a prestigious fall prospect league owned and operated by MLB. Every season, each MLB club selects a number of its top prospects to participate in the AFL, which features six total teams. Per MLB, the AFL is designed to serve as the "finishing school" of the minor leagues for players, coaches, and umpires.
