SPARTANBURG S.C. – The Southern Conference announced the 2022 women's soccer all-conference teams Thursday afternoon, with freshman midfielder Ansley Elizalde earning a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
 
"Ansley's maturity as a player has shined through since her arrival at Wofford," said head coach Emily Grant. "Her soccer IQ is at a high level and I think her experiences with the Mexican national team prepared her to quickly adapt to the competitive college environment. She is thoroughly deserving of this postseason accolade and I'm excited to see her growth continue."
 
Elizalde was a driving force behind the Terrier offense to close the regular season. She netted goals in back-to-back games against the top two teams in the conference, Chattanooga and Samford. Her goal against the Mocs was the game-winning goal. Overall, she led the team with four goals and eight points in the regular season. Elizalde's first career goal was the game-tying goal in the 87th minute against UNC Asheville.
 
This is the third-straight season that Wofford has had a player named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team. Mia Bookhard and Olivia Hughes earned selections to the team in the 2020-21 spring season, while Caileen Almeida was selected last season.
 
Wofford will face top-seeded Chattanooga in the SoCon Quarterfinals tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. The Terriers defeated the Mocs last week 2-0 at Snyder Field.
