Wofford’s Rob Galloway Competes At 2022 Wimbledon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Former Wofford College men's tennis player Rob Galloway '15 and his partner Max Schnur won in the first round of gentlemen's doubles on Thursday at The Championships at Wimbledon. In the second round on Saturday, they were defeated in five sets 7-6 (8-6), 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7-4), 6-4.
 
Galloway and Schnur were alternates, who gained entry into the gentlemen's doubles draw on Thursday morning. They defeated Tallon Griekspoor (Netherlands) and Oscar Otte (Germany) 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the second round.
 
In the second round on Saturday, they faced the #13 seeded pair of Santiago Gonzalez (Mexico) and Andres Molteni (Argentina). Galloway and Schnur lost the first set 7-6 (8-6) in a tiebreak. After dropping the second set, they bounced back by winning the third set 6-3 and then won the fourth set 7-6 (7-4) in a tiebreak. In the deciding fifth set, they were defeated 6-4.

Galloway, a native of Greenville, S.C., currently has a doubles ranking of 95th in the world and has won twelve career ATP Challenger doubles titles. A member of the Wofford College Athletics Hall of Fame, he has also played in the 2018 and 2021 U.S. Opens.
