Wofford Summer Baseball Update

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Multiple Wofford baseball players are continuing to play during the 2022 summer upon the conclusion of the 2022 NCAA season. In total, 24 Terriers are competing across 10 different collegiate wood bat summer leagues.

Three Terriers are playing in the Appalachian League, which is a part of Major League Baseball and USA Baseball's Prospect Development Pipeline. David Wiley and Connor Larson are playing with the Princeton WhistlePigs while Andrew Herrmann is on the Danville Otterbots.

Gunnar Johnson is a member of the Westfield Starfires in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

A pair of Terriers are remaining teammates in the Valley Baseball League. Mike Eggert and Trey Yunger are competing with the Charlottesville TomSox.

The Coastal Plain League features another pair of Terriers, but they are playing with different organizations. Jack Renwick is on the Savannah Bananas, and Devon Sharts features on the Forest City Owls.

The New England Collegiate Baseball League touts four Terriers, the second-most of any summer league. The Vermont Mountaineers have Shane Lussier and Cameron Gill on their roster as the only two on the same team in this league. Andrew Calhoun is on the Bristol Blues while Ryan Galanie is playing for the North Adams SteepleCats.

Aaron Thomas and Sam Stratton remain compatriots on the D.C. Grays in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

Ben Schulte is the Terrier to travel the farthest from Spartanburg for his summer ball experience. The rising junior is playing for the Walla Walla Sweets of the West Coast League.

The New York Collegiate Baseball League boasts five Terriers, the most of any summer league in 2022. All five are future Wofford players, with the incoming freshmen playing for two different squads. The Cortland Crush features the pair of Champ Davis and Andrew Mannelly. The trio of Stanley Zagrodnik, James Layman and Alex Nevils are competing for the Orleans Oilers.

The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League features another pair of incoming freshmen, with Cooper Erickson and Zac Cowan playing for the Auburn DoubleDays. Also in the PGBCL, Coulson Buchanan features on the Saugerties Stallions roster. Buchanan earned a Midseason All-Star selection for his performance in the first half of the season.

The final Terrier furthering his playing experience in the summer circuits is O'Kelly McWilliams IV. The right-hander is competing in the Northwoods League as a member of the Traverse City Pit Spitters.

Summer league seasons vary by league, but they typically run from May to late July with playoffs concluding in early August.
