Box Score HIGH POINT N.C. – The Wofford men's soccer team used a pair of goals to defeat High Point 2-1, earning the team's first win of the season on the road at Vert Stadium. The win moves Wofford's record to 1-2.
The Terriers put the pressure on High Point throughout the first half, with six shots compared to only two for the Panthers.
After being scoreless for nearly the whole first half of the match, the Terriers struck first with the first Wofford goal of the season at the 42:32 mark when
Brandon Oddy found the back of the net off a pass from
Hugo Moldin. The Terriers held on to the 1-0 lead at the half.
The chances continued to come on offense for the Terriers in the second half, with multiple shots sailing off the crossbar and some just wide of the net.
The Terriers doubled their lead after
Cameron Victor's free kick deflected off a defender in front of
Jackson Wrobel, who perfectly placed the ball in the top right corner of the net with nine minutes remaining.
High Point would not go away quietly, cutting the deficit in half after Kaya Ignacio found the back of the net with 53 seconds left in the match.
The Terrier defense, however, buckled down the closing seconds to secure the first win of the season for Wofford.
