HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team hosted its annual Low Country Intercollegiate this weekend at the Moss Creek Golf Club, a par-72, 6,009-yard course, as freshman
Lilli Horn recorded a seventh-place finish to pace the Terrier squad in 15
th place. Weather factored into the event, as play was washed out on Saturday, lowering the originally scheduled three-round tournament to just two rounds of play.
Wofford posted a team score of 659, 83-over par, to place 15
th in the 19-team field. The Terriers secured wins over App State, Winthrop, USC Beaufort and The Citadel.
Quinnipiac won the event by a stroke with a 619 score, barely besting UNC Asheville's 620 mark.
Lilli Horn was the top Terrier in the event, continuing her hot streak. Carding 79-74 en route to a 153, the freshman placed in a tie for seventh at 9-over par in the 105-player field. The result is Horn's first-career top-10 finish. The Bournemouth, United Kingdom native has placed in the top 20 in back-to-back events. With 24 pars, Horn recorded the second most in the tournament.
Despite being unable to claim a team title, UNC Asheville's Madyson Gold earned low medalist honors with a 148, 4-over par score. She won the event by two strokes over Elon's Annabelle Ackroyd.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan placed in a tie for 46
th with a score of 163 (83-80), 19-over par.
Nicole Amos (85-86) scored 171 to place tied for 80
th.
Ella Stoll (86-91) tied for 88
th with a 175, and
Lindsey Hollis (86-91) rounds out the Terrier lineup with a 177, tying for 91
st.
Two Terriers competed as individuals in the event, with
Taylor Burch (86-83) tallying a 169 to place in a tie for 73
rd.
Maggie Jackson (85-84) also tied with Burch in 73
rd with a 169 score.
Wofford will be back in action at the beginning of April with a two-day event in Morganton, N.C. The Terriers will compete in App State's Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate from April 3-4.
