HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team competed in the Southern Conference Championship over the past three days at the Moss Creek Golf Club, a par-72, 6,036-yard course, placing in fifth with a score of 935. Senior
Nicole Amos paced the squad with a 231 to tie for eighth.
The Terriers stayed steady in fifth place throughout the event, finishing in that slot at the conclusion of each day. Wofford carded 311-313-311 to score 71-over par at 935.
Furman won the championship at 30-over par with a score of 894, 19 strokes ahead of second-place Mercer.
Nicole Amos was the top Terrier, tying for eighth to earn a top-10 result. With a 15-over 231, she carded 73-79-79. With 35 pars, Amos tied for third most in the event.
Furman's Anna Morgan earned low medalist honors as the only golfer under par at 2-under with a score of 214. She was four strokes ahead of her teammate to claim the win.
Lilli Horn joined Amos in the top 10, tying for 10
th with a score of 233. She shot 79-76-78.
Maggie Jackson made three Terriers in the top 20 with a score of 235 to tie for 18
th. She carded 76 and 82 in the first two rounds, but she utilized a 77 in the final round to move up six spots into the top 20. Jackson totaled 36 pars, second most in the event.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan was just outside the top 20 in a tie for 21
st with a score of 236. After a tough 83 in round one, she bounced back with subsequent scores of 76 and 77 to move up seven spots in the final round.
The final spot in the Wofford lineup was split between
Ella Stoll and
Taylor Burch. Stoll played the first two rounds, scoring 84 and 88. Burch subbed in for the final round to score 83.
This was the final event of the 2022-23 women's golf season for the Terriers. Wofford returns to the links next season.
