SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced the 2023 women's tennis postseason awards on Wednesday, April 19. Postseason balloting was conducted by the league's eight head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.
Wofford's
Breda Brennan and
Brianna Wilbur were selected to the All-Southern Conference second team, while Brennan was also the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.
Brennan, a sophomore from Limerick, Ireland, earned second team honors at the #2 singles position. She was 11-8 overall on the season in singles play and 7-9 in doubles play. All singles were played at the #2 position, where she was 6-2 in Southern Conference matches. She played matches at all three doubles positions and had three different partners, however she primarily was at the #2 position with
Emma Sorensen. Brennan also becomes the fourth Terrier to be the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award, joining Audrey Coventry (2013), Catherine Martin (2017), and Jenna Vroman (2021).
Wilbur, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, earned second team honors at the #3 singles position. She was 16-6 overall in singles and 11-10 in doubles play. In Southern Conference matches, she was 6-2 with all eight matches played at the #3 position.
The Terriers will open play at the 2023 Southern Conference Tournament on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Wofford, the #6 seed, will face the #3 seed Samford.
