QUICK HITS
• Wofford had won four-straight series to open SoCon play before dropping two-of-three on the road to UNCG.
• The Terriers top the country in a pair of statistical categories: sacrifice bunts (70) and walks allowed per nine innings (2.19)
• Wofford owns one of the best offenses in the nation, ranking seventh in average (.321), eighth in OBP (.430), 11th in scoring (8.9) and 15th in hits (516).
• D1Baseball has named its top 50 players by position in the nation, with Ryan Galanie (sixth, first base) and Cameron Gill (23rd, catcher) being ranked.
Ryan Galanie is in contention for the SoCon triple crown, leading the SoCon in average (.423) and RBI (60) while sitting third in homers (14).
Jack Renwick is the best bunter in the nation, topping Division I with 21 sacrifices laid down to pace Wofford's national-best 70 sac-bunts. Renwick is already Wofford's career leader in bunts and has set the program's single-season record.
• The Terrier pitching staff as a whole has been pinpoint, giving up only 103 walks this season. At a rate of 2.19 per nine innings, this is the lowest mark in the NCAA.
• Wofford was picked as the SoCon's preseason favorite in both the coaches and media polls.
• Five Terriers were honored on the Preseason All-SoCon Teams: Matthew Marchal, Luke Stephens, Ryan Galanie and Brice Martinez on the first team with Trey Yunger on the second team.

• Three Bears are top five in the SoCon in homers: Ty Dalley (second, 15), Eric Toth (fifth, 13) and Jozsef Rohrbacher (fifth, 13)
• Mercer's .979 fielding percentage is second in the SoCon behind only Wofford, and it ranks 17th in the NCAA
• Wes Franklin ranks 24th in the country in saves with eight, second most in the conference
• Trevor Austin ranks 10th in D-I among active players for games played (226) and 34th for hits (231)
• Mercer is second in the SoCon standings, one game ahead of Wofford

THE DYNAMIC DUO
College baseball site D1Baseball.com has released its annual position rankings, in which in the top 50 players across the country at each position are revealed. A pair of Terriers have been recognized on the list as some of the best in the nation. Ryan Galanie was named the sixth-best first baseman, and Cameron Gill was tabbed the 23rd-best catcher.

SMALL BALL
The Terriers use a combination of stolen bases and sacrifice bunts to advance on the basepaths. Wofford has dropped down 70 sac-bunts, tops in the nation. Wofford also features the best bunter in the country, as Jack Renwick's 21 sac-bunts lead the NCAA, eight ahead of USC's Carson Wells with 13. Brice Martinez is eighth nationally with 10, second in the SoCon. Three other Terriers rank top 10 in the SoCon, as Marshall Toole is third in the league with eight bunts. Trey Yunger has seven sacrifices, sixth in the league, and Connor Larson owns six to rank seventh. With 137 steals, the Terriers are second in the SoCon and fourth nationally. Wofford's 2.85 steals per game check in at fourth in the country. With 24 steals, Trey Yunger ranks fourth in the SoCon. Marshall Toole is not far behind with 22 steals in sixth, and Ryan Galanie is eighth with 17 swipes. The Terriers have secured a 10th consecutive full season with 100 or more steals. Nobody has embodied the Wofford small ball philosophy quite like Renwick, who as a junior is already Wofford's career leader in sac hits with 37 and counting. The previous mark was 29, originally set by Alex Lee (2008-11). His 21 sacrifices this season are a new single-season program record, topping the prior mark set in 2013 by Alex Paradowski. With 78 career stolen bases, Renwick is seven off of the program career record of 85, set by Brett Rodriguez (2017-20).

WHAT A RELIEF
Sophomore right hander Lucas Mahlstedt has anchored the Wofford bullpen to lead the relief efforts for the Terrier pitching staff this season. Mahlstedt owns a 2.04 ERA with a 5-1 record and four saves. Over 66.1 innings, he has struck out 56 hitters while allowing only 15 runs and 10 walks. Mahlstedt's ERA tops the SoCon and ranks ninth in the nation. He also leads the league in WHIP (0.90), K/BB ratio (5.60) and walks per nine (1.36). Those three markers rank fourth, 23rd and 14th nationally, respectively. It took Mahlstedt a whopping 24.2 innings to issue his first walk of the season. His four saves check in at fourth in the SoCon. Mahlstedt thrives under pressure, as he as entered with 14 total inherited runners this season, and only two have scored. Mahlstedt has been honored twice by the SoCon this season, being named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week on April 5 and being tabbed SoCon Pitcher of the Month for April. He has also been named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List. A workhorse, his 66.1 innings pitched, all in relief, are most in the nation for a relief pitcher this season. The next closest is Middle Tennessee's James Wells at 53.1.

RECORD WATCH
A few Terriers have either broken program records already this season or are on the cusp of doing so. Jack Renwick is already the program's career record holder for sacrifice hits with 37 and his 21 this season have set the program's single-season record. Ryan Galanie owns 80 hits this season, which is nine shy of the program's single-season record of 89. With 60 RBI, he is 15 off of Mac Doyle's record of 75 set in 2010. Matthew Marchal touts nine wins this season, which is two shy of the program's record of 11, set four time prior, most recently in 2007 by Ben Austin.

SENIOR DAY
Sunday's series finale is also the last home game for Wofford this season, and as such it serves as Senior Day for the Terriers. Nine Wofford seniors will be honored pregame: Ryan Galanie, Cameron Gill, Shane Lussier, Matthew Marchal, O'Kelly McWilliams IV, Jack Milani, Ben Schulte, Luke Stephens and Trey Yunger.
