SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced today its selections for men's golf all-conference, with Wofford's Max Cranford earning a selection to the SoCon All-Freshman Team. The all-freshman team was voted on by the league's head coaches.
 
Cranford is the first Terrier to garner all-freshman team honors since Matthew Larkin did so in 2021. With this recognition, Wofford has placed a golfer on either the All-SoCon Team or All-Freshman Team in each season since 2014 (2020 excluded – no All-SoCon awards due to COVID-19).
 
"I am proud of Max being named to the all-freshman team," said head coach Van Williams. "He continues to get better every day, and his best golf is ahead of him!"
 
A native of Newton, N.C., Cranford competed in seven events with Wofford in his rookie campaign. He garnered a 73.81 stroke average over 21 rounds played, fourth best on the team. That mark was fifth best among freshmen in the entire conference.
 
Cranford totaled two rounds under 70, scoring a 69 twice. His best score was a 3-under 213 at the Carolina Cup in October, during which he placed in a tie for seventh. That finish was his first top 10 and top 20 result in his young career and is his best finish so far. With a 217 in the SoCon Championship, Cranford placed in a tie for 16^th at 1-over for his second top-20 result to lead the Terriers at the event.
 
Cranford returns for his sophomore season in the fall as the Terriers hit the links for the 2023-24 campaign.
