WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wofford College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Saturday at the Mondo College Invitational at the JDL Fast Track. Wofford had numerous top ten finishes, while school records were set by
Ella Tennant in the 60 meters and
Sebastian LaTorre in the pole vault.
During the track events,
Marga Van Der Linde was seventh in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in 9.49.
Grant Witherspoon also reached the finals of the 60-meter hurdles and was sixth in 9.49. Archie Woodward was fifth in the men's 600 meters in 1:26.95 and
Sumter Cooper was fifth in the men's unseeded 400 meters at 52.48. In the women's seeded 400 meters,
Jasmine Jefferson took first place in 57.24, with
Brooke Sayre tenth (1:03.05) and
Marga Van Der Linde eleventh (1:03.19).
Zion Bennett was fourth in the men's seeded 400 meters at 50.67, with
Robert Hilsman sixth at 51.50.
In the finals of the women's 60 meters,
Ella Tennant was sixth in 7.58 after breaking the school record in the event during the preliminaries with a time of 7.47.
Cameron Dalton took eighth place in the finals of the men's 60 meters in 7.01.
Dannielle King was first in the women's 800 meters in 2:25.08, while
Kristen Hallman was sixth at 2:32.58.
Will Berger had a third-place finish in the men's 800 meters at 1:59.93. In the unseeded 200 meters,
Isabelle DuChemin was fifth in 26.79 for the women and
Cameron Dalton was first for the men in 22.41. During the seeded 200 meters,
Madeline McNinch was second in 25.63 for the women and
Zion Bennett was second for the men with a time of 22.70. To close out the day, the women's 4x400 relay team was first in 4:03.03 and the men's team was fourth in 3:27.72
Leading in the field events,
Sebastian LaTorre was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 4.45 meters to set a new school record.
Irene Pardo was sixth in the women's long jump at 5.35 meters. In the shot put,
Chase Edwards (12.89m) was 12
th for the men and
Ellie Sawicki (10.45m) was 13
th for the women. Edwards added a 13
th place in the men's weight throw at 12.79 meters.
Christopher Sheppard was 13
th in the men's triple jump at 12.59 meters.
Olivia Bagg was seventh in the women's high jump at 1.57 meters, with
Ava Cooper eighth in 1.52 meters.
Jake Ross was eighth in the men's high jump at 1.87 meters.
The meet featured over 25schools, including Appalachian State, Duke, Elon, UNC Greensboro, Wake Forest and Wofford.
The Terriers will be back in action next weekend at the Brant Tolsma Invitational hosted by Liberty University.
