Men’s Golf Concludes Fall at Furman Intercollegiate

Miller Carr records first top-20 result as a Terrier

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford men's golf team wrapped up play Sunday afternoon in the Furman Intercollegiate, concluding the fall slate of action in 12th place with an 880 team score. Miller Carr was the top Terrier in the event, tying for 15th with a 1-under 212 at the Furman University Golf Course.

Wofford's 880 finished at 28-over par. After opening with a 297 in round one, the Terriers picked up with a 285 later that day in round two. However, a third round of 298 saw Wofford slip three positions to 12th. The five Terriers in the lineup combined for 37 birdies, tied for ninth most in the 15-team field. Texas A&M won the event by two strokes at 23-under, besting host Furman.

Competing as an individual, Miller Carr was the top-performing Terrier in the event with a 1-under 212, tying for 15th in the 87-player event. After a 72 to open the tournament, Carr shot a 69 in round two to enter the final day in a tie for 11th. With an even-par 71 in the concluding round, Carr secured his first top 20 as a Terrier with his 15th-place result. The 69 in round two is his lowest round in three events with Wofford after transferring into the program. The sophomore tied for the third-lowest par-3 average with a 1-under 2.92 in the event. Carr's 39 pars tied for the third most in the field, just two shy of the leader, Francis Marion's Xavier Schwarz with 41.

Wake Forest's Scotty Kennon secured low medalist honors with an 11-under 202. He won the event by just three strokes over Phichaksn Maichon of Texas A&M and his 205 mark, preventing the Aggies from claiming a sweep of the tournament.

Ben Jordan carded a 220 to tie for 46th as the top finisher in the Terrier lineup. After a 75 to open play, Jordan shot a 69 in the second round, but a 76 on day three pushed Jordan to his final spot on the leaderboard. Max Cranford matched Jordan in 46th with his rounds of 73-72-75.

Andrew Aquino was a single stroke behind them with a score of 221, tying for 52nd. The freshman carded rounds of 77-70-74. Charles Warren scored a 223, tying for 64th with rounds of 72-78-73. Rounding out the Terrier lineup was Marshall Butler in 84th with a score of 232 (79-74-79).

Wofford has finished its fall slate of play and will return to action in February with the first of six spring events. The Terriers open the back half of the campaign in Puerto Rico at UNCG's Dorado Beach Intercollegiate.
