Wofford Volleyball Announces Signing Class

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College head volleyball coach Lynze Roos has announced the signings of five new Terriers who have signed aid agreements or letters of commitment to join the program. These five new student-athletes are set to come to campus in the fall of 2025.

"Our 2025 class includes some incredible volleyball players who also happen to be brilliant students – and even more impressive people," said Roos. "Individually, they are state champions with numerous awards amongst them – but together, they have the ability to rival some of the most storied classes we have had. More importantly, these young women have the abilities to make an impact on Wofford and on our world after they complete their degrees."

Charlotte Bell is a 6-2 middle blocker from Raleigh, North Carolina. An all-conference honoree each of the last three years, Bell led her Cardinal Gibbons team to a state championship this past season. As a senior, Bell is hitting over .430 with 37 blocks, 46 aces and 2.2 kills per set. A three-time letterwinner on the court, Bell is just as gifted off the court as a member of the National Honors Society while also being an A-Honor Roll student.

"We couldn't be more excited to add Charlotte Bell to our Wofford Volleyball program," said Roos. "Not only is she an elite athlete with amazing potential, but she is an outstanding student, teammate and person. Charlotte is fast with a quick arm, and she has played with and against some high-level competition to prepare her for this level. We know that she will add to the Wofford community with her passion for learning and heart for service. Charlotte will bring some physical presence in the middle for our program, and her offense will fit well into our systems. She impressed us early on as a great fit for Wofford. She is going to thrive in a student-centered campus like ours, and we are so ready to see her impact here."

Caroline Cannon is a 6-2 middle blocker from Dallas, Texas. Cannon is a team captain on her Highland Park High School squad and has aided in them earning back-to-back district and bi-district championships. In 2024 alone, Cannon has totaled 95 blocks with six matches of six or more denials. She was a Texas District 12-6A Honorable Mention honoree in 2023 and has been named to the academic all-district team. Blocking talent runs in her family, as her mother Janet Cannon played collegiately at Davidson and still holds several blocking records for the Wildcats, including career blocks with 557.

"Caroline has just started to scratch the surface of the volleyball abilities she has," said Roos. "She had an elite high school career and will carry that experience with her to the college level. We are excited to see her expand her attacking and blocking skills in the middle to continue Wofford's blocking traditions. Caroline also has the ability to attack as high or higher than our other middles, making her a difficult weapon to stop. We believe she can fit well with our offense, and we are excited to see how she can challenge our attackers at the net. Caroline is also a high-level student with so many additional gifts outside of just volleyball, and we are so blessed that she chose to become a Wofford Terrier."

Ella Coleman is a 5-11 outside hitter from Boerne, Texas. Coleman has amassed 755 career kills, 617 digs and 66 aces. She is a four-time academic all-district selection while also garnering academic all-state honors and an AVCA Best and Brightest nod. Coleman recorded triple-digit kills in two of her high school seasons, including a whopping 422 as a senior. On top of her success on the court, Coleman is heavily involved in the community with several different aspects of charity work, including Blessings in a Backpack, Charming Pet Recue and Georgia Foodbank.

"If you could package Ella's energy on the floor, everyone would want to buy it," said Roos. "She is an electric player who can take over matches with her attacking, but she also is a steady passer and defender. She has all the tools to become a high-level player in our league and the attitude to work hard to achieve that goal. We were impressed with her consistency and power, but overall – we just loved watching her play! Ella lights up the rooms she enters, and she has the ability to share that joy with others around her. She also was an ideal fit for Wofford with her academic focus and desire to earn a competitive degree. Ella will make an impact on Wofford, and we are so excited to see her in black and gold!"

Lauren Marschke is a 6-0 outside hitter from Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Marschke owns over 1,200 kills with Norcross High School alongside 50 blocks, 226 aces and 670 digs. She has earned region offensive player of the year honors and is a multi-time all-county and all-region player. Also a county player of the year, Marschke has twice been tabbed Gwinnett Daily Post Super Six. With Marschke's help, her Norcross team has thrice won the region title and most recently in her senior season made the state final four for the first time ever.

"Lauren could be described as the anchor of her teams," said Roos. "She has outstanding ball control and can pick apart defenses with her shot selection. However, what made Lauren stand apart during the recruiting process was her court presence. She is a player who communicates well, has high-level court vision and has a competitive drive that is contagious. Lauren can have an impact in so many areas on the floor which makes her a great addition to the roster. She also is an excellent student who will add to the classroom environment at Wofford immediately."

Grace Stewart is a 5-10 setter from Mountain Brook, Alabama. As a senior, Stewart dished 948 assists while totaling 263 digs. She added 59 aces, 30 blocks and 75 kills. A 2024 team captain, Stewart has been named to the AVCA Phenom List and JVA watch list three times each. In 2024, she was honored on the AVCA All-Region Team, AHSVCA All-State Team and AVCA Best and Brightest Third Team. She helped her squad to a 6A state championship in 2023. Off the court, Stewart owns a seal of biliteracy in Spanish. Her older sister Clark runs cross country and track at the University of Virginia.

"We truly fell in love with Grace during the recruiting process as we got to know her, her skills and her heart for others," said Roos. "Grace is a setter who takes a lot of pride in her craft, and she has improved every year on the floor. We knew Grace would be an ideal fit for Wofford with her strong academic commitment and her ability to balance the demands on and off the court. She will enrich our campus with her personality and gifts of bringing out the best in her teammates. Grace has quick feet and a high release, making her a tough setter to read on the opposite side of the net. She will offer our offense a different look in the gym, and we are excited to see Grace make the transition to the collegiate floor."

The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to Wofford College and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
