Wofford Volleyball Selected to Waco Regional of NCAA Tournament

Terriers will open their second-straight tournament with a match-up against Baylor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship bracket was announced along with the full 64-team field by the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball committee tonight. The 2024 Southern Conference Tournament champion Wofford Terriers were selected to face Baylor in the first round of the tournament. The Bears are hosting the regional in Waco, Texas.

"We're excited," said head coach Lynze Roos. "We got to see Baylor live last year at Kentucky – really impressive team and staff. We're excited, and it's a new opportunity for us."

The full field of teams and bracket were both announced during the selection show at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN. Wofford was selected into Nebraska's quadrant of the 64-team field. Baylor is a No. 4 seed in that 16-team portion of the bracket, earning the right to host one of the four-team pods. Wofford and Baylor will square off at 8:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 5, in the Ferrell Center. No. 5 Dayton and South Carolina were also selected into the Waco Regional and will play each other in round one. The winners of each match will face off at 8:00 p.m. ET the following night on Friday, December 6, also in Waco.

"It's all just so exciting," said senior outside hitter Mary Emily Morgan. "Obviously, doing it for the first time last year in Kentucky, we didn't really know what to expect, so there was all the initial excitement with that. This year, knowing how the process works kind of makes it even more fun because we get to just enjoy the whole show. We're excited for Baylor, too. Waco, Texas, will be really cool and very different."

The Terriers are back in the field after repeating as SoCon Tournament champions. This marks Wofford's second consecutive and overall NCAA Tournament appearance. In Wofford's first-ever appearance last season, the Terriers fell in round one to No. 2 overall seed Kentucky. Baylor was also in Lexington for that regional, opening with a win over James Madison before falling in round two to the Wildcats.

Wofford is 23-8 on the season, matching its best-ever win total at the Division I level, set last season. The 12-4 SoCon mark is a new program best. Wofford has already shown its toughness against ranked Power Conference teams this season, dispatching then-No. 15 Tennessee in five sets back in September inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
