SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford baseball offense continued to roll Sunday afternoon at Russell C. King Field to the tune of 14 runs as the Terriers downed Towson 14-1 for a third-straight win to open the season. Wofford is 3-0 after opening weekend, and Towson sits at 1-3 after the loss.

The Terrier offense was the big story of the weekend, notching double-digit runs in all three games. Wofford totaled 43 runs between the three games.

"That's crazy," said
Adam Haber of the run total for the weekend. "I think everybody's just trying to do their job, pass to the next guy, and it really keeps it flowing."

Wofford freshman
Camden Wicker (1-0) recorded the win in relief as the first arm out of the bullpen. The rookie tossed 2.0 innings in his debut to the tune of three punchouts with no runs allowed.
Braden Hofmeyer started, making his Wofford debut, and pitched 4.0 innings with a run allowed and three strikeouts.
Alec Bouchard,
Branton Little and
Mike Eggert each pitched a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Little and Eggert both tallied a pair of punchouts, and the freshman Bouchard's debut outing was a 1-2-3 inning.

"It felt great," said Hofmeyer of his stellar Terrier debut. "We played well as a team. We came together and grinded it out this weekend, and we played really well overall."

Towson starter Brett Seils (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits and two walks.

Wofford out-hit Towson 15-9 on the day. The Terrier hitters were also patient, working 10 total walks whereas Wofford's pitchers issued only two free passes in the contest. The Terrier defense was also unblemished while the Tigers committed four errors in the field.

Brice Martinez led the way at the plate with three hits in six at-bats and three runs knocked in.
Andrew Mannelly,
Gunnar Johnson,
Tyler Hare and
David Wiley each recorded two-hit performances. Wiley tallied two RBI while Mannelly drove home one.
Marshall Toole recorded a hit but reached three times with a pair of walks.
Adam Haber drive home three runs to tie Martinez for the team lead on the day, and
Jack Renwick recorded a pair as well.
Ever deadly on the basepaths, the Terriers swiped seven bases in the game. Toole stole two for a second-straight affair, and Haber added two of his own. Mannelly, Martinez and
Lucas Manning each had one.

The blowout nature of the game allowed Wofford to play numerous Terriers late. Seventeen position players saw action in some capacity during the game, including multiple making their debuts. Freshman
Carter Hanson and sophomore
James Layman both made their collegiate debuts alongside the freshmen Wicker and Bouchard on the bump.

"They did a really good job," said assistant coach Pat Brown of the freshmen debuts this weekend. "They were really impressive. If you were watching, you wouldn't have known they were freshmen. They didn't look any different, so those guys did a really good job, and I'm proud of them."

After a scoreless first inning, Wofford got on the board in the bottom of the second with a
David Wiley two RBI single.

The Terriers carried that 2-0 lead into the third inning and ballooned it with a massive nine-run inning. The onslaught opened with a single by
Andrew Mannelly that plated
Marshall Toole.
Brice Martinez singled home Mannelly, and later in the frame an
Adam Haber single scored two more runs.
Jack Renwick then added a two-run single of his own, and Toole singled Renwick home. The scoring finally concluded with a Martinez infield single that plated a pair, and the Terriers entered the fourth up 11-0. The bottom of the third lasted a total of 42 minutes as 14 batters came to the plate.

Towson earned its lone run in the top of the fourth with an RBI single. An inning later, Wofford got that run back when a wild pitch allowed
Dixon Black to score.

In the sixth, an RBI fielder's choice by Haber added another run, and in the seventh another wild pitch allowed
Alex Nevils to score. That would conclude the scoring for the contest, as the Terrier pitching staff held the game down from there to ice the 14-1 triumph.

After the opening weekend of action, Wofford remains home on Wednesday, February 21, for its first midweek match-up of the campaign. The Terriers will welcome Kennesaw State to Russell C. King Field for a 5:30 p.m. contest before hosting a three-game weekend set against Fairleigh Dickinson.
