KENNESAW, Ga. – On Friday and Saturday, the Wofford College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Don McGarey Invitational hosted by Kennesaw State. Wofford had numerous top ten finishes in the meet, with school records set by
Cameron Dalton,
Jasmine Jefferson and
Ellie Sawicki.
On Friday in the field events, Taylor Stingle was sixth in the javelin at 32.17 meters and
Olivia Bagg was tenth at 28.92 meters.
Sebastian LaTorre was eighth in the men's javelin at 45.20 meters. In the women's long jump,
Madeline McNinch was fifth at 5.52 meters and
Olivia Bagg was eighth at 5.43 meters.
Ellie Sawicki was ninth in the discus at 36.30 meters.
In the Friday track events,
Cameron Dalton was first in the 200 meters at 21.58 and
Robert Hilsman was eighth at 22.35. In the 400-meter hurdles, JaKayla Campbell was seventh at 1:09.18 for the women and in the men's event
Grant Witherspoon was fifth at 55.21 and
Archie Woodard was seventh at 55.87.
The field events on Saturday,
Chase Edwards was second in the discus at 46.17 meters and
Ellie Sawicki was fourth in the shot put at 13.23 meters to set a new school record. Patrick Green was eighth in the triple jump at 13.86 meters. In the high jump,
Olivia Bagg was seventh at 1.60 meters and
Ava Cooper was ninth at 1.55 meters.
During the track events on Saturday,
Cameron Dalton added another first-place finish by taking the 400 meters in a school-record time of 47.92.
Jasmine Jefferson dominated the women's 400 meters with a school-record time of 54.63 that was nearly three seconds faster than the next competitor. In the women's 100-meter hurdles, JaKayla Campbell was fifth at 14.96 and
Olivia Bagg was eighth in 15.34.
Grant Witherspoon was fifth at 15.64 in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
Madeline McNinch was second in the 100 meters at 12.24 for the women and in the men's event
Nevius Fisher was sixth (11.16) and
Robert Hilsman was tenth (11.22).
Brooke Sayre added a ninth place in the 800 meters at 2:21.91, while
Liam Jones was third at 1:57.38 in the men's 800 meters. In the women's 2000-meter steeplechase,
Morgan Roberts was seventh at 7:37.78.
In the relays, the women were fifth in the 4x100 and eighth in the 4x400. The men were fourth in the 4x100 and sixth in the 4x400.
The meet included nearly 20 teams, with the Wofford men and women combining to finish third overall with 110 point.
The Terriers will travel to the South Florida Invitational on April 5 and 6 in Tampa over spring break.
