The Terriers are fresh off a 6-5 comeback victory over Winthrop to sit at 29-13 on the season. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 17-26 after taking two-of-three at Radford over the weekend, and they did not play a midweek game. Â
GOING ON 30
With 29 wins this season, Wofford needs just one more to notch 30 and extend its streak of 30-plus win seasons. The Terriers have earned at least 30 victories in each of the last five full seasons (COVID-shortened 2020 campaign excluded) and are on the verge of pushing the run to six-straight campaigns.
Â
OPEN THE RECORD BOOKS
The Terriers have been rewriting the record book all season, and multiple are on the verge of adding more records to their resumes.
Jack Renwick has scored 180 runs in his illustrious career, tying former teammate Lawson Hill for the most by a Terrier. Renwick needs just one more run to claim solo possession of the record.
Brice Martinez currently owns 195 career hits, needing just five more to become the 15
th member of Wofford's 200-hit club.
Marshall Toole's 36 steals don't just lead the nation – they are barreling down on the Wofford single-season record. That mark was set in 1981 by Tim Renfrow, who swiped 39 bags. Toole needs three more to tie the record and four to claim it for himself.

COWAN THE K MAN
Sophomore
Zac Cowan has been a key piece of the Wofford rotation, proving every bit deserving of the Preseason All-SoCon Team selection he received after an All-Freshman Team nod as a rookie. The right-hander has been the staff's K man, tallying 86 punchouts for first in the SoCon and 13th in the nation. He tossed 13 strikeouts against Lafayette, a career high at the time. But he outdid himself at Mercer on April 19 with 14 punchouts in 9.0 innings of work. Those 14 punchouts are the fifth most in a game in program history and his new career high, earning him SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors. He boasts three total double-digit strikeout efforts. With a strikeouts per nine innings rate of 11.06, he is second in the league. Cowan is 6-1 over his 11 starts thus far with those six wins fourth in the conference. Cowan has tossed 70.0 total innings with a 3.21 ERA, allowing only 29 runs (25 earned) on 67 hits. Of note, he has issued 20 walks to his 86 strikeouts, and he is holding opponents to a .249 average against. Cowan's 4.30 strikeout-to-walk ratio checks in at third in the conference. He boasts a pair of unofficial complete games, tossing all 7.0 innings in two run-rule triumphs. He shutout VMI on March 29 before going the distance against Western Carolina on April 26. Alongside his pitcher of the week honor on April 22, Cowan was dubbed SoCon Pitcher of the Month for March.
Â
A TOUGH EGG(ERT) TO CRACK
Senior
Mike Eggert has been steady in his final campaign with the Terriers. With consistent outings, Eggert has worked both out of the bullpen and in starting roles. In all, Eggert has appeared in 15 games with six starts, earning an 8-3 record with a 5.49 ERA. In 39.1 innings, he has allowed 25 runs (24 earned) on 45 hits with 42 strikeouts to only 14 walks. His eight wins are second in the conference, fifth in the nation. He is just one win shy of the SoCon leader, Samford's Michael Ross, and three wins off the national leader, UNC's Matthew Matthijs. Eggert turned in the best performance of his career as the series-opening hurler against Lafayette, tossing 6.0 innings to match his career high and striking out a career-best eight batters. Eggert has been dominant in his career against Big South opposition, and he will likely have at least one more crack at the conference with four more games due up against those teams. In his career, Eggert has pitched 23.2 innings over nine appearances against Big South foes, and he has only allowed three runs. That is good for a 1.15 ERA. He has given up just 13 hits and issued a measly five walks to 24 strikeouts. He is 6-0 against the Big South, with all six of those wins coming in each of his last six outings against the league.
Â
ON-BASE MACHINES
With a potent offense, the Terriers have made themselves at home on the basepaths. Even more impressive is the consistency that many Wofford hitters have shown in regards to reaching base. Two Terriers currently boast on-base streaks of at least 30 games, led by
Marshall Toole. The junior has reached base safely in all 42 games this season.
Daniel Jackson adds in a 31-game on-base streak.
Brice Martinez had been riding a 29-game on-base streak with a 23-game hit streak until both ended at UNC Asheville on April 23. But that hit streak ties for the longest in the program's Division I era (Lawson Hill, 2022) and the second longest overall in program history. Toole is one of just four players in the nation to have reached base in all 42 games this season, joining Ryley Johnson (ECU), Drew Holderbach (App State) and Carmine Petosa (Bryant). Toole's mark is now the longest in program history dating back to 1999 (records incomplete prior), besting the mark of 41 set by
Ryan Galanie between the 2022-23 seasons.
Â
SOCON VS. BIG SOUTH
Wofford is quite familiar with the Big South Conference and has fared well against its member schools recently. The Terriers were an undefeated 9-0 against Big South opponents in 2022 and 8-0 against them last season. Wofford owned an overall 18-game win streak against the conference dating back to 2021 until a 16-6 defeat at Winthrop on March 27. Despite this, the Terriers have won 21 of their last 22 against the Big South and are currently 4-1 against the conference this season.
Â
HIT THE GROUND RUNNING
It has been full steam ahead for head coach
J.J. Edwards in his first year at the helm of the program. The Terriers are currently 29-13 in his first season as the skipper. Those 29 victories are the most by a first-year coach in program history, topping the 24 of his predecessor, Todd Interdonato, in 2008. They are the only two coaches to crack 20 wins in their first seasons with the program.
Â
ON DECK
The Terriers will play their final midweek match-up of the campaign when they travel to Clinton, S.C., to face Presbyterian on Tuesday, May 7. First pitch between the upstate rivals is set for 6:00 p.m. This will mark the final non-conference game of the season before Wofford plays two-striaght conference series.
