SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team secured a second-place finish at the Terrier Intercollegiate, which was held on Monday and Tuesday at the par-72 Country Club of Spartanburg.
Bella Kent clinched her first top three finish of the 2025-2026 season with a one-under par in the final round of the tournament to secure her spot. The Terriers concluded the event with a total team score of 897.
Wofford hosted the two-day tournament with a pool of 14 teams, including Southern Conference members Western Carolina and The Citadel. The Terriers finished at 33-over par for the tournament.
Wofford opened day one with a statement score of 307 and continued to show their strength as a top team with a score of 292 to cap off round two. The Terriers continued to dominate the field on day two with a score of 298 in round three and a total overall score of 897 to hold onto their second-place spot. East Tennessee State came out on top of the leaderboard with a posted score of 891. Their top finisher, Sophia Gambini, took home first place, shooting a one-over par 217. The Terriers had the best par-5 scoring average with a 4.87 and the second-best par-4 scoring average with a 4.29. Wofford accumulated 150 pars, the third highest in the field. The Terriers also saw a total of 38 birdies, the second highest of the tournament by two.
Kent was the top finisher for the Terriers, securing her first top three finish of the 2025-2026 season. Kent finished in third place with a three-over par 219. After a 76 in the first round, Kent came back to shoot one-under par in her first nine holes of round two and ended the round even. Kent finished business on day two as she shot par or under for 16 of 18 holes in the third round to clinch a 71 to give her a third-place spot. Kent had the best par-5 scoring average of the tournament with a 4.58. She was also tied for the fourth-best par-3 scoring average with an even 3.00.
Kent wasn't the only Terrier to dominate the field, as
Lilli Horn and
Sofia Pedrero finished tied for fifth place with a seven-over par 223. Horn opened round one with a 79 but quickly turned it around with a 71 to end round two one-under par. Horn had the momentum as she recorded a 73 to end round three and secured her first top ten finish of the season. Pedrero wasn't far behind Horn as she opened round one with a 76 and continued to make great progress throughout round two to finish strong on day one with a 73. Pedrero continued her success into round three, shooting just two-over par to secure her first career top ten finish. Horn and Pedrero tied for the third-best par-4 scoring average with a 4.17.
Freshman
Grace Lindsey finished the tournament with an 18-over par 234. Lindsey opened her first round with a 78 but turned around to finish round two with a 76. Lindsey came back the next day to finish round three with an 80 to secure her spot for 26
th place, a career high. Capping off the team results,
Delaney Wade finished with a 19-over par 235. Wade recorded a 77 in the first round and capped off round two with a 76. Wade returned on day two to end round three with an 82 to clinch 30
th place.
The Terriers also had three individuals competing in freshman
Valeria Melo, junior
Anna Ahonen and junior
Elle Webber. Ahonen finished in 25
th place with a 17-over par 233. Ahonen recorded a 76 in the first round before she carded an 82 in the second. Ahonen turned it around the next day to end the third round with a 75. Melo finished in 33
rd place with a 20-over par 236. Melo opened her first round with a 79 before she finished round two with an 81. Melo came back strong to finish round three with a 76. Webber finished in 49
th place with a 30-over par 246. Webber recorded an 85 in the first round before she carded an 81 to end the second round. Webber concluded round three with an 80.
The Terriers will return to action for their final tournament of the fall season at the Edisto Invitational in Edisto, South Carolina. The two-day tournament will take place on October 27-28.
